Queen of Hill Stations: Ooty
I have been to Ooty long back in 2017 and will share my views and experiences as per that visit. Things might have changed now post pandemic but for those who are going to visit Ooty for the first time are going to feel the same way as I felt years back.
What is Ooty famous for?
Ooty is a hill station in Tamil Nadu located in Western Ghats. It is a colonial town and still preserves working steam engine train. It is famous for its tea plantation popularly known as Nilgiri tea. It is also famous for various forest products like Eucalyptus oil. The tallest peak of Nilgiri mountain range is Doddabetta located near Ooty. Due to its aesthetic beauty and cool climate, it makes one of the most loved destinations for honeymoon couples.
What are the places to visit in Ooty?
1. Mudumalai National Park: It is located in Ooty Mysore road connecting Eastern ghats and Western Ghats. It has also been declared as a tiger reserve. Best place for nature lovers.
2. Ooty toy train: This train runs around 45kms in the Nilgiris and passing through the greenery of while in this train make good memories.
3. Pykara lake : It is a huge natural lake located 20kms from Ooty. It has boating options available. Water is pretty clean and pictures comes amazing of this place.
4. Toda huts: These are the barrel shaped huts where the indigenous tribe of Ooty i.e. Toda tribe reside. These are made up of stone mainly granite with low lying doors and no windows.
5. Sims park: It is a botanical garden of Ooty. It has diverse range of plants and trees displayed with their scientific names and uses.
6. Doddabetta: It is the highest peak of Nilgiri range. Weather is cool out there.
7. Dolphin Nose : It is a dolphin nose like rock formation located at some height.
8. Sleeping lady view point: It is a hill top from where you can view mountains formed in the form of a sleeping lady. Tourists view this through a telescope which is available there.

4. Eucalyptus oil
5. Natural honey
You can cover all sightseeing places in Ooty in around 3 days. It's beautiful and I hope this blog will help to explore Ooty better.
