Bangalore to Dandeli

As we all know Bangalore is a largest IT hub of India and it is also popularly known as 'Silicon Valley of India'. It hosts lacs of engineers, college students, other working professionals from all parts of India and around who shed their energy in building the nation. These technical minds are often bored and look for options to travel in and around Bengalore. Although, Bangalore is a metropolitan city and it has lots of options to entertain the tired minds but what if one look for some adventure & peace and that too in Karnataka.

What is special about Dandeli? 

Dandeli is a small town in Uttar Karnataka which is nearly 8 hours away from Bangalore. It is the part of Western Ghat region of Karnataka and that is the reason why it has cool climate, good forest cover and heavy rainfall from August to November. 

Dandeli is the second largest wildlife sanctury of Karnataka and is also designated as tiger reserve. It hosts wide variety of animals such as black panthers, tigers, antelope, leopards, deer etc. 

If you are a nature lover and love to see animals then you must come to Dandeli to get an amazing jungle safari and camping experience in forest. 

Not only this, Dandeli offers a number of adventure sports like Zorbing, Cannoeing, River crossing, Kayaking etc. 

River rafting in Dandeli's Kali river is very famous in entire South India. 

Molangi falls and Sathodi falls are places where you can spend some quality time. 

And if you are religious and spiritual, Dandeli has a number of temples to visit. Most famous of all are Dandelappa temple and Sri Mallikarjuna temple. 


Which month is best to visit Dandeli? 

Although the climate of Dandeli is pleasant all round the year but because of heavy rainfall from August to November, it is better to visit this place in December to June. 

In fact it hosts maximum tourism during the month of October and February. 


How should one travel from Bangalore to Dandeli? 

If you want a hassel-free travel then you can travel to Dandeli via your own vehicle (car or bike) or hire a rental car/bike. It will take you around 8 hours to reach Dandeli from Bangalore. 

There are other options as well. You can go there via government buses (KSRTC) or private buses. 

Private buses are easily available and will take you only 9 hours while government buses are less in number and takes a longer route to reach. KSRTC takes around 12 hours,30 minutes to reach Dandeli from Bangalore. 

It is advisable to take private buses. 

There are no direct trains to Dandeli from Bangalore. Though there are direct trains to railway stations nearby to Dandeli like Alnavar (32 km), Londa (37 km), Dharwar (55 km) and Hubli (74 km). After reaching any one of these railway stations, one can take cab or bus to Dandeli. 

If you are an air traveller then there is a little disappointment as Dandeli doesn't have an airport of it's own. But, you can still travel by air to the nearest airport of Belgaum which is 90kms from Dandeli . So you can travel partly via air and partly via road.
