Top 5 Tourist Places in Karnataka
Around two years ago I went for Karnataka trip and after visiting so many places I can figure out what places are really best and unique of all. Though it was very difficult for me to find out top five tourist places in Karnataka as it has so many places that attracts tourists from all over the world.
What are the top 5 tourist places in Karnataka?
As per my experience, top 5 tourist places of Karnataka are:
1. Badami
2. Hampi
3. Jog Falls
4. Coorg
5. Chikmangalur
- Badami : Badami is one of the heritage cities of India. It is located in Bagalkot district of Karnataka. Badami was ruled by ancient Chalukyas. It is famous for its monolithic cave temples. It is one of the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. If you ever visit here, don't forget to take pictures of this monument that is masterpiece of our history.
- Hampi: This is yet another UNESCO's World Heritage Site in Karnataka. This one is so famous that its 'stone chatiot' has got displayed on ₹50 note. Hampi was the capital of Vijaynagar empire. Major attractions of hampi are its ancient temples like Virupaksha temple, Elephant stables, Lotus mahal, Anegundi, Vithala temple. If you have interest in ancient Indian history then this place showcases materpieces from our ancient history.
- Jog Falls: Jog falls is a tourist spot in Shimoga district of Karnataka. It is the tallest waterfall in India. It is unique as it does not fall in a stream but it is a free falling waterfall. The water falls over Sharavati river.
- Coorg: It is a hill station in Karnataka famous for its Coffee and tea plantations. It is also known as 'Scotland of India'. It is not only a nature spot but it also offers adventures specially in monsoon season. One can come here for trekking, rafting, para- gliding etc. It also has some beautiful water falls. One can enjoy jungle safari and elephant camps here. The cool weather, sparse population, scenic beauty makes it best place for people who want peaceful yet adventurous holidays.
- Chikmanglur: It is another famous hill station of Karnataka. It is also called as coffee land of India as coffee production was started from here in India. It is the largest producer and exporter of Arabica coffee in India and world. So if you are here, don't forget to visit the coffee plantation estates. Apart from that it is part of Western ghats and it has Baba Budangiri mountain range. The largest peak of Karnataka is also located here i.e. Mullayanagiri peak. It is best place for trekking, camping, biking etc. It has beautiful resorts to stay and spend holidays with friends and families.
